Floricoltura Fornara Freddy

High quality
Camelias Azaleas Rhododendrons

The concern was founded in 1960 by Giovanni Fornara. Its first greenhouses, located in Meina, a town on Lake Maggiore , were meant for the growing and retailing of Geraniums, Cyclamens , Poinsettias, Primulas and other annuals.

The economic boom in the early seventies and its growing demand for garden plants favoured the cultivation of Azaleas, Camelias and Rhododendron, plants already very famous on Lake Maggiore where they were introduced as late as 1800 and found an ideal climate for their growth.

For this purpose the concern was subsequently moved to Nebbiuno , in a fertile area suitable to the cultivation of acidophil plants in the open fields . On account of the growing market demand for seedlings and pot plants , nurseries and greenhouses were gradually built .
The concern has been competitive and constantly developing all through the eighties and the nineties , while both the technologies and the resources used have always ranked among the best on the market . Today the concern has a total area of 4 hectares , 2.5 of which are indoor.
In 2001 Giovanni’s son, Freddy took up the management of the firm.
Today’s production as well as the previous one is mainly concerned with acidophil plants in different sizes and varieties thus offering a wide choice.
The plant selection includes also Leuchothoes, Pieris, Skimmias and Osmanthus.

Freddy Fornara’s Nursery Gardening Concern is a member of the association of producers of the local flowers of Lake Maggiore ( the so called “Consorzio Fiori Tipici del Lago Maggiore”). The main target of the association is the preservation and the advertising , both in Italy and abroad , of the local production of acidophil plants.

Morevover , together with three other big concerns, it is the partner of the “Florovivaistica del Lago Maggiore “ a nursery gardeners’ cooperative whose aim is the favouring of the sale organization in Italy in order to strengthen the presence of its members on the market.
